Cowling Complete

Was another busy 4 days finishing up the cowling. 10-12 hours a day. My goal was to get the cowling finished this week and it pretty much is. It's taken a long time to complete. Too long. Glad to be moving on to something new. I had to trim, fit and bond the two air ramps to the top cowling. Once bonded in with flox (resin/cotton fiber mix) there were certain areas on the ramps where the edges needed to be blended into the cowling. This so the baffling edges will seal properly and was done with a resin/microballoon mixture. When dry its tough yet sandable to a feathered edge. Finally it was all sealed with a coat of resin. I thought installing the oil servicing door would take a few hours but it turned into a much longer project. The hinge mechanism needed extra spacers so the door would fit and open correctly. The hinge also needed some grinding along the radiuses to eliminate rubbing.
