Wing Tips
With the lower wing skins done I can finally move on the large fiberglass wing tips. The pieces require a lot of trimming and sanding to fit correctly. Again, the ailerons are temporarily installed and held neutral with the tooling fixture. Once trimmed and fitted the wingtips are match drilled. Nutplates will be installed to secure them to the wing. Red/green position lights will also be fitted to them under clear lenses.

Both fiberglass wingtips prior to trimming.

A palm sander and 40 grit paper was useful for more detailed edge work.

A rotary tool was useful to remove large amounts of material.

A sanding block was used to get fine amount of material and to create straight edges.

The wingtip temporarily installed. I duct taped tooling from the canopy build to the aileron to help hold the tip in the correct position flush with the aileron.
