Day 14
Wing Bottom Skins
Today we shined the bottom of the wings.
First we started with getting the plastic off of the skins. This process takes a bit of time and patience.
Once the plastic was off we set to scuffing the panels. The bottom has a lot of dimpled holes that have to be hand scuffed. After that was done we then prepped the rest of the skin.
Once the skins were prepped we turned the wings upside down and set them on the floor. The large skin goes first and is Cleco’ed along the main spar. Then moving down the ribs and finishing with the rear spar.
Once Cleco’ed and insuring everything is still square we then set about clear drilling, de-burring and riveting according to the build manual. Then removed the cleco’s and repeated the process.
After the large skin was finished, we then installed the step skin portion following the same process.
the same process was followed for both wings.
