Day 37
Rudder Cables & Luggage Compartment
Today we finished riveting the lower side skins for the rear fuselage. Very clean looking.
After that we put the rudder cables in. This took a little engineering to get them to cross correctly. Then set the M5 Rivnuts to hold the tension springs. There were a lot of right spaces where rivets went on this assembly, so it took a little time because many of them had to be hand pulled.
When that was completed we set about collecting the many channels, angle brackets and skins for the luggage compartment. In one of the assembly videos we watched the gentleman recommended assembling everything first to familiarize ourselves with the layout and determine the best order to rivet the assembly. Very grateful for this advice, because the way it is show in the instruction manual would have been very difficult. We were able to dry assemble approximately 3/4 of it. Tomorrow we will finish the luggage extension compartment and add it to the assembly. Then should be able to take it back apart, install some sound panels, and then rivet the whole compartment together.
