Day 79
Ailerons & Wing Tips
Built and riveted together the left aileron today. Went the same way as yesterday’s build. They turned out very clean.
Did some research on how to align the flaps and ailerons with the main wings. Once the fuel tanks and wing tips are riveted on we’ll be able to do their final alignment.
Started installing some of the extended fuel tank fittings and lines. Attempted bending one of the lines and made the error of not having the fitting at the end before bending, and now it won’t fit. Found a place that said we could bring it over next Tuesday and they would help us fix it. Then we’ll be able to finish bending and running the lines. Once those are in place, and we leak test the main tanks once more, the tanks can then be riveted one.
Unwrapped the wing tips to start preparing them for installation once the tanks are riveted on. Made a jig out of cardboard for the NAV lights and set it up on the composite to mark on the wing tips where the holes will go. Being these are aftermarket lights, as we were reading the insulation manual, there is some hardware we will need to get for their final install.
