Day 96
Undercarriage Main Landing Gear
We were able to temporarily mount the main landing gear today. (We are waiting on four tube spacers for the bolts that are in our back-order crate before it can be tightened.)
The four bolts had to be shortened to 6 7/16in. Using a cutting wheel and grind disc made quick work of these. Special care did need to be taken to not damage the bolt threading so that the nuts could still be put on without cross threading them.
We then set the landing gear up inside the channel box to make sure it fit properly, or see if it would need to be trimmed. To our joy, it fit up inside perfectly. The four bolts were then temporarily set and we found center underneath to make sure once the spacers were put in place that the landing gear would fit properly from left to right.
Today we also assembled as much of the nose gear as we could, until a couple of back ordered parts arrive that will allow us to mount it to the motor mount. The same goes for us being able to mount the wheel assemblies onto the landing gear. We are missing a couple of spacers for those as well.
