Day 128
Firewall Forward
Worked on getting a large portion of the Firewall Forward installed today.
Installes the starter relay, fuse box (as well as reassembling one of the external regulators), oil tank, solenoid valve, and ECU control unit.
Also pre-ran the wires to where we think they are meant to go. Didn’t hook any up yet until we get a few more things installed, just to make sure we have them routed the way we want before finalizing them.
The only thing today that was truly a little difficult was the ECU control unit. First off, the panel that it bolts to had already been riveted in, which made it difficult to insert the four m5 rivnuts. (Why they didn’t show installing them before, I don’t know.) So we drilled them back off which allowed us to maneuver the panel and get them inserted.
Next issue, the bolts provided from the factory are too short. The ECU in the manual shows it only having one anti vibration grommet. Whereas ours has one on both sides. (Adding approximately 10 more millimeters.) So we went and grabbed 4 m5x50mm bolts. These worked out perfectly.
Tomorrow we’ll be able to start hooking up the oil and coolant hoses!
