Day 132
Empennage
So much going on!
We ordered a hand rivet nut puller that allowed us to install some rivet nuts in a few tight places and mount a few components to the firewall.
We have started getting the three cooling systems set up for the motor. The radiator, oil cooler and air coolers. Each system requires hoses being cut and fitted with various couplings.
We got the radiator overflow tube ran and connected, but won’t cut and crimp the hose until most everything else’s is set up on the motor to make sure it is the length that we want.
The air cooler will require some rerouting of some wires, as well as some custom cut hoses.
When we went to look at our oil cooler we found it had been damaged during shipping, but thankfully we were able to order the exact one online and should arrive soon.
We’ve also been working on getting our wiring harnesses figured out and have made great progress with getting that all laid out.
Today we also mounted our horizontal and vertical stabilizer’s! They look so great on the plane! In our efforts to get all of our wiring done, we wanted to make sure we were running everything for the empennage correctly.
We are still waiting on a back ordered rib to complete our vertical stabilizer. We heard today that it should be shipped soon, which is exciting news.
Now that we know how we want to mount our VOR antenna and beacon light we can also finish the rudder.
We will also start fitting our canopy later this week as well!
