Day 145
Spraying Sealer for Canopy
This morning we wet sanded our primer on the canopy where we repaired the underside. Afterwards we went around and made sure everything was final scuffed, blew it off and wiped it all down.
We then hung it in the paint booth and sprayed our epoxy sealer. This gives a good bond to the panel, as well as increasing the adhesion for the paint.
Being this was our first large panel we’ve painted in our both with the refurbished air system, it was difficult to dial in our paint gun, and as a result cause a couple of material runs on our job. So we’re going to let it dry overnight and I’m the morning we’ll address the runs and then be able to continue with our paint. With the sealer we used we have a 24 hour respray window to work with. It’ll be an easy fix. Nice thing too, is we were able to work with the air system and paint gun, and should have it pretty we’ll figured out now.
The rest of the day we spent finishing the scuffing of or fuselage. We had one side, and the underside to finish. While working on it, we found a small dent that we went ahead and repaired with some body filler.
Tomorrow we’ll get back to finishing our paint on the canopy.
