Day 172

Rudder Pedals Alignment

This morning we made some more standoffs for the return fuel line, brake line and throttle cable. We also installed three rivet nuts to hold use p-clamps on these three lines to hold them at the perfect hight as they went to their connections. Everything lines up much better after we altered the throttle/ brake quadrant.

Today we spent some time on trying to optimize the turn radius of the front steering gear. We saw a post where someone cut off a portion of the I-bolts for the control rods so that they would fit all the way inside the rods. Effectively making them as short as possible.

The issue we have been having is finding the neutral position for the rudder. When we first thought we had it the nose wheel would turn further to one side than the other. We think we finally have it as close as we can get it. We won’t know for 100% until we hook the rudder up, but it wouldn’t take much at that point to adjust it slightly.

We did some communicating with Midwest Panels today in regards to wiring a boost pump for the long range fuel system. They were fairly certain we should be able to make it work with the wiring system we have. They are going to be sending us a switch that they will build for us that can go on the side of the center console area right off the pilots leg. There appears to be a open circuit from the VPX power bus.
