Day 171

Throttle/ Brake Quadrant

Today we were able to get the clamps installed on the four heater vent tubes. There is not very much room to work and the vents are very close together, so it took a little bit of work to make all four to align and be able to get a socket on them. But once we did, it is much stronger than before. The vents don’t pop of now. Can not even wiggle them, so it’s going to work great.

We also started placing stand-offs on the lines and wires as they route from the firewall. This prompted us to look at how the fuel lines will hook up and the relation to where the brake line and throttle cable will go. As we inspected this we noticed that the return fuel lines we’re going to interfere with the placement of the throttle cable. We went back to the manual to see if we had assembled the throttle/ brake quadrant correctly. We had, according to the old directions… They had since updated it since we assembled ours. You can install the cable on the opposite side of the lever, after you disassemble half of the assembly.

While we were working on this we also hooked back up our master brake cylinder. We watched a video on how the tension is to be set for it so that you get the full stroke of the cylinder rod. To make it work we had to cut off about 4 threads worth of the end bolt. It was too long and preventing the lever from making a full stroke.

To finish it off for today we installed the brake line from the master cylinder to the on/off switch.
