Day 193
LED Cabin Lights
Wired the cabin lights today. That was quite the undergoing. The other day we had soldered the wires from the tail harness up into the canopy. Today we pulled the wires in the canopy to go where they needed to.
The wiring diagram was difficult to decipher, but we think we got it correct. Unfortunately we won’t be able to really test them until the battery and the dash are all connected, but we did it just as it shows in the wiring schematic.
We also mounted the lights and covers in the canopy. We are missing one swivel light, which they are sending to us. We also are working to get one of the chrome bezels to snap into place. Midwest says sometimes they warp if not stored properly… Still working at that one.
All in all, the lights are wires and mounted. They look really good. Excited to see them work.
We also got the propeller control units mounted and wired on the instrument panel. There is a wire loom that will need to be ran from the prop spinner through the firewall as well. Thankfully there is a firewall mounting bracket provided. This was a wire we were previously unaware of, and we had already sealed up where the other main wires passed through the firewall. This will work better anyways, because the wire provided will only just long enough to reach the dash.
