Day 201
Primer
Today we were able to roll the plane into the paint booth and do some priming. Very exciting stuff.
We spent some time in the morning wiring for LED lights in the booth. Dennis was very gracious in helping get that done. It made a tremendous difference inside the booth.
Once we were done with the lights we rolled the plane in and primed a few parts.
While it was drying we went around and got a few bolts and supplies we were in need of.
After we got back we untapped our plane and rolled it back into the shop. We then set about doing miscellaneous things to start preparing it for paint soon. We put m4 bolts in all the rivet nuts so that when it gets painted we won’t have to clean the threads out later, which honestly would be a huge pain. Totally worth the $7 for 100 m4 bolts.
We also cleaned up the SikaFlex around the canopy and rear windows with some sandpaper and scuff pads. It turned out better than we thought it would have. We then sanded and scuffed the remainder of the canopy.
We also cleaned up several holes and have been using body filler putty to fill in any rivets we found missed.
It’s all coming together!
