Day’s 202-204
Front Windscreen
So much going on! We are really gearing up to get things painted soon.
After we got things primed we got block sanded all of them. With those done we then got the front windscreen installed. The process was the same as the other glasses. The next day we pealed the tape off and then after it cures for the weekend we went around and cleaned up the SikaFlex with sandpaper.
We have also cleaned up the glasses on the hatch doors. These took the most work out of all the glasses. They were the first ones we did. I learned how to do better after each glass we completed. We were able to get them to still look really good.
As well we have cleaned up the rear port windows. And while at it we sanded and scuffed the canopy, including the SikaFlex seal around the parameter.
We have started making brackets to hold the wings in the paint booth. There is a steel beam in there that we plan to put our reversible brackets on that will hold our wings one at a time vertically for us to work on. We went through a number of ideas on how to hang out wings, but feel this one will be best. The brackets will mount directly to the main and secondary spars of the wings. We especially wanted to achieve this so that there would be no undue stress that the wing is not meant to endure.
We are going through the part’s making sure they are all complete and ready for paint. We plan to finish cleaning and preparing the paint booth this week so that starting first thing next week start painting parts.
