Making a start on the vertical stabilizer

Deburring, cleaning and priming

Assembly: vertical stabilizer

Manual ref: VS2

Today we had little time to work due to a television program visiting our workshop. However we still managed to deburr, clean and prime the contact surfaces of te vertical stabilizer. This took about 2 hours.

When looking at the manual we faced an issue where the rivnuts supplied by the sling (m4) did not match the rivnuts requested in the drawing (m3) as shown in the picture. We looked up some build logs of other builders and found that most people drill there holes to m4 size. To fit both m3 or m4 drilling is needed, the difference is not that big: 5mm or 5.9mm therefore, combined with the increased strength of m4 rivnuts, we decided to choose the supplied m4 nuts.

Builders of today:

- Pepijn van Kampen

- Francesco Granata
