Engine Cowling - Pt 18

To fix my cowling alignment problem I needed to extend the aft edge of the nose bowl about 1" thus ensuring there will be enough flange to have a good edge margin when I redrill the fastener holes securing the cowling sheetmetal to the nose bowl.

I used some strips of aluminum as backing and taped them in place with a couple of spring clamps at the ends to help secure the aluminum. By using the tape, I will be able to apply long strips of fiberglass along the edge.

I applied 4 layers of cloth to act as a filler followed by 2 layers overlapping the nosebowl and let it cure. At the same time, I filled all existing fastener holes with resin mixed with ground fiberglass as I will start from scratch with regards to positioning the nosebowl and redrill new holes.
