Counting the ribs...
Shop time tonight was dedicated to an inventory of the ribs. Between the various nose, center, back, aileron, and flap ribs a Bearhawk has 170 different ribs in its wings. Tonight I took the time to look at everything that came with the wing materials kit. Initial findings are:
- I'm missing 6 flap ribs and all the flap nose ribs
- The plans call for all nose ribs to be .025 but mine are sized based on there corresponding center rib so those nearest the fuselage are 0.032.
- All ribs are shaped, fanged and fluted.
- About 25-40% still need lightning holes of various sizes cut
- All ribs need to be flattened.
I'm planning to reachout to Dallas tomorrow to see if he might take a look around the shop for the missing ribs and see if he has any of the original form blocks still (which I doubt he will). I'd also like to learn about the method he and Dan used to form the ribs.
