Door latches

Finished welding the lower supports for the latching mechanism in place and trimmed the stainless latch handles so they now clear the steel cross member. I purchased some flat 6mm aluminium bar stock to make the short linkages out of and will make these up tomorrow. I also bought some flat stainless plate to fashion the steel linkages from. I plan to cut pieces from the plate an weld to the end of the 4130 tubing.

Ive spent some time pondering how the lower door skin is going to fit, and how the upper acrylic will fit too. The main issue I think will be the aluminium sheet “frame” that I plan to rivet to the door frame. It won’t be very wide and may not have the strength to support the acrylic. Tomorrow I’ll cut a cardboard template to trial the fit.
