Color coat

Finally, after a lot of preparation, I finally sprayed the first part of the color top coat. I decided not to wait for the white primer to ship, and rolled the fuselage onto its side. I began with the underside first, being more difficult to see up close. Actually it seemed to go quite well. I think I went too light with the initial coats, but it didn’t seem to matter except that I ended up doing about 6 light coats to get the color saturation that I was after. I’ve also sprayed the top side, and started on the elevators.

Tomorrow I plan to scuff the top and underside, and apply a final “wet” coat. I’ll also do the sides, now that I am more confident with what I’m doing.

Initial fog coats, slowly building up.

A bit blotchy......

Top side getting close.

Pretty solid and bold color saturation on the belly.
