Seats, Baffles

Seats

This morning I collected the seats from the upholsterers. I’m pretty happy with them, they look sharp. The front ones are very comfortable. The rear one isn’t so much, the back is too steep, but that’s the design from the factory and not the fault of the upholsterers.

Baffles

Lots more work on the two front baffles/air dams. The reason for all the extra work is that the Vans nose cowl that they were designed for is a different shape. I’ve decided to fully enclose the front baffles and I’ll add curved sheet inside to smooth the flow. I added the prop governor cable mount this evening.

The front intake baffles are different shapes to each other because the front cylinders are offset, so they need to be made differently.

The Vans kitset has you installing nutplates on the left intake baffles so they can be removed, but this seemed like a lot of work and fiddling for minimal gain. So I worked out a way to remove it fully intact and riveted it together. Much easier !
