Filter Air Box

Spent time today constructing the filtered air box. I’ve drilled and deburred most of the rivet holes, countersunk where needed, and riveted the side recess panel into place. It took a while to get the FAB centered correctly. This evening I installed the nutplates, then applied a sealant and riveted the top plate into place.

Tomorrow I’ll install the FAB bypass door. I’ve deliberated alot over whether or not to install the bypass door as there is a history of parts failing on the door and being ingested, so the very system that is there to provide alternate air to avoid an engine failure has a history of causing engine failures. And for a strictly VFR aircraft an alternate air shouldn’t be necessary. Anyway.....I’ll follow the masses and install one against my better judgement.
