Cowls, Wing roots

I continued working on the wing root panels today, and added rivnuts to the support frame. I also put some adhesive on the socket and ELT panels to stop any vibration. Then I shortened both fuel sight gauges to fit and drilled the holes through the support brackets. Tomorrow I’ll add the red/green lines behind the PVC for the parallax and install them.

This afternoon I decided to re-do the engine top and bottom cowls, so I drilled out the rivets. I’ll use the old cowls as a template. I discovered that the lower cowl had been made from .032 when it should have been .025. It was in the kit like this but I hadn’t realized. When I remake them I won’t be dimpling the holes that attach to the firewall. Instead I’ll use domed machine screws. This will prevent scratching the boot cowls when removing them, and will be in keeping with the Bush plane look.
