Cable tying, Ground Power plug.

Cable Tying

Much of today was spent routing and covering cables, and tying them into place. I made good progress and it’s starting to look good.

Ground Power plug

My friend Simon sent me a copy of Bob Nuckles instructions on how to modify a Piper Ground Power plug. Basically, I cut the shaft much shorter, then ground the head of a brass bolt down so that it fit inside the shaft. I then soldered it inside the shaft using a butane torch, while holding the brass bolt in the drill press chuck. Delicate work indeed. The results were very good, and I can now connect the positive lead with a lug, as the rest of the system is done. We covered the cable with additional heat shrink for extra protection. Because the cable is so short we are not installing a GP contactor.

EFIS

There seemed to be an error in the amperage displayed on the ECM screen so I emailed Dynon AFS. It required a quick change to the shunt settings and it’s now reading correctly (and makes more sense).
