Backup batteries, Exhausts

Backup batteries

I had been deliberating over where to locate the EFIS backup batteries. The avionics rack is now very full and has a lot of cabling. There’s enough room to locate them in the side of the starboard boot cowl so that’s what I’ve settled on. They seem to fit quite well. Once the interior Kydex panel is in place, and the exterior boot cowl skin is in place, they won’t be visible. To access them, the boot cowl panel unscrews quite easily and the interior Kydex pops out once the floor panel is removed.

Exhausts

Having got the new remade exhausts back from Vetterman I only had to fit them. The starboard side exhaust went together as expected. However the port side exhaust was already very tight for clearance around the oil cooler, and the new heat muffs sit about an inch further aft which has caused a few issues. I’m having to get quite creative. Tomorrow I plan to remove one of the “V” braces, and try moving it horizontally across to brace it off the other side.
