Air intake, Filtered Air Box, Nose Bowl

Air Intake

Last night I had put an undercoat on the air intake. Today I attached it to the lower cowling and drilled the attachment holes. I enlarged the cutout in the cowling aluminium, and attached nutplates for #8 machine screws.

I’ve also used sealant to glue a foam block into the air intake. Tomorrow I’ll remove the center to shape the intake and fibreglass it into place, then remove the foam.

FAB

I trimmed the front of the Filtered Air Box off flush. Then I applied one layer of fibreglass inside to to cover the rivet heads. This is in case any of them break off as they would be ingested into the engine.

Nose Bowl

I added a nutplate to the center of the nose bowl. The rest of the cowling skin will be riveted to the nose bowl. I also need to countersink the holes a little deeper and this will allow the aluminium skin to sit better against the nose bowl.
