Maintenance Approval course

The SAANZ are conducting a maintenance approval course in Blenheim, NZ, which I am attending. The goal of the course is to be able to conduct your own maintenance on amateur built aircraft. There are several requirements including attendance of the course, passing the exam, and having 3 supervised 100 hourly checks completed. Then an application can be made to NZCAA.

I’ve enrolled to do the exam in Christchurch on Wednesday afternoon. I plan to do one 100 hourly check prior to commencing test flying, and another one on completion.

The first day of the course was very informative and involved learning the rules and regulations. There was alot covered, and some interesting discussions.
