Air intake seal, Prop Governor
Air intake seal
This afternoon I added the silicon seal around the FAB intake. I used a high temp silicon to seal it, and wide flange rivets. One thing I did was to add a backing strip of .025 aluminium so the rivets don’t pull through the fibreglass. I’ll buy some longer rivets and replace several of them to get a better purchase through the FAB.
Prop Governor
I secured the prop governor cable in place and temporarily added the rod end bearing. When I made up the front baffles I had modified the support bracket for the cable due to limited space with the Bearhawk nose bowl. When I did this I had to estimate the position of the prop governor, which has ended up being in direct alignment, It would have been better off being on one side or the other to eliminate a bend in the cable. I’ll have to find another way to do this. By extending the cable to its maximum reach it seems to reduce the friction. Both the throttle and mixture controls have very low friction - which took me a lot of adjustment to get to. It’d be good if I could do the same with the pitch control.
