Windshield

Windshield

I lifted the windshield into place to check for correct fit.

At first it wouldn’t fit into the top channel, so I spent some time widening the channel, although it’s not really ideal, and I haven’t put the felt on yet. I suspect that somehow the two channels may need to be remade to fit properly. It should have fit well because the windshield is a legacy part and a known size. I also notice that the shape doesn’t follow the wing of the Bravo model correctly, so I wonder if it’s designed to fit the A model wing. The sides sit wider and would need to be held in place, so a relaxed fit would not be possible. It’s occurred to me that perhaps I’ve been given a windshield for the earlier model.

Because the leading edge shape is different, the fuel lines don’t exit properly so I’ll need to change these and maybe remake them.

I also notice that the angle of the top channel doesn’t allow the windshield to sit correctly, it should slope downwards by about 10°. It made me wonder if the redesigned channel had been fitted before (it can’t have been, because the issue becomes obvious).

Because of these issues I have written to Mark and also asked for help on the Bearhawk forum.

Placards

I dropped the panel mock-up and draft of the placards into the vinyl shop this afternoon. There are a few things to add, but this will get the ball rolling.
