Gear leg fairings, Nut-plates, Baffle tie rods

Gear leg fairings

I made a template first, then cut the fairings from aluminium and sanded them. I have to work to do to get the back strip to fit properly, and to join the the front fairing. I also need to work out how to attach them in place, given that I didn’t put any nut-plates on before covering. Sheet metal screws may be an option here.

Nut-plates

I decided to add 4 nut-plates to the bootcowl for the windshield fairing, as it’s difficult to access for adding nuts to the bolts. The rest will simply use nuts.

I also added 4 nut-plates to the tabs above the windshield at the wing root. Eventually I’ll make a small Kydex panel to cover this area.

Baffle tie rods

The baffle tie rod nuts supplied with the Vans kit we’re supposed to be stop nuts, but they weren’t. I added some Loctite to secure them.
