Prepping Rudder Parts and Skins

Spent hours todays trimming and deburring skin edges, final drilling some ribs and getting the counterweight hardware riveted together. Trying to figure out where 11 hours went vs what I actually accomplished. Sometimes it feels like progress is glacially slow. So much time is spent reading and re-reading the plans trying to figure out what that I'm supposed to do next. I'm stumped now regarding dimpling the rib that holds the counterweight for the flush #12 flush machine mounting screws. I don't have a dimple that size nor does Cleaveland make one. I do have #8 and #10 screw dimple dies. I also have a #12 countersink? The plans specifically say to dimple the rib and countersink the lead weight to accept the dimple. I need to call Vans tech support for advice.

One good thing that happened today was my multiple log posts on my EAA logbook were successfully transferred over here by Mark Stratman, webmaster of We Build Planes. A big shoutout to him for his time and help on that. Those log entries dealt with all my time and efforts prepping my workshop. Its nice to have everything consolidated on one log website. I spent $13,300 in for tools, garage prep etc that I'm adding here to acurately reflect my total expenses to date.
