Rear Spar Finished
Finished the rear spar flush riveting uneventfully. The only thing that remains is riveting in the 2 center nose ribs. Got them clecoed into place and took the stab out of the cradles and pondered how to best set the AN470 rivets called for in the rib flange to spar junction. Access is limited for a squeezer so they have to be bucked using my double offset set. I'm not going to be able to do it alone and would need the assistance of another RV builder who's been there. Too much to manage alone with the gun and bucking bar and the consequences of screwing up are high because removing them would be a real pain. I sent a query to Van's tech support about using LP4 pulled rivets in this location instead. I think it would make life a lot easier. There may be engineering reasons why I can't but they're used all along the aft spar to join it to the ribs. We'll see what Van's says before proceeding further. In the meantime I can start pulling out elevator parts.
