Floor Dimpling And Nutplates
Today consisted of de-burring, dimpling both baggage floor skins then back riveting on 18 nut plates for #8 screws. Then also began to test fit the skins in place and make a few needed matching dimples on underlying ribs. I need to read ahead and make sure I fully grasp the various flight control and systems installations that will be under those skins. Once they're riveted down, that's it. Access underneath them in the future becomes nearly impossible. My big concern now is fully understanding the flap bushings I installed the other day, how they interact with the flap torque tube and freedom of movement there. Van's directs the bushings AN3 bolts not be torqued to full spec, merely cinched down snug. Although not explained I think it's to keep the relatively soft UHMW from deforming and thus binding on the flap torque tube. There's also an antenna hole under there that somewhat accessible through a large lightening hole. I need to review exactly what goes there and any future cable runs to it. Finally I got official confirmation today from the FAA for reserved N-number. I initially applied for it 12/13/20 so it took them awhile to get back to me. N892SL is officially mine for the next year. $10 yearly renews it as needed till I actually register my plane.
