More Pushrods
Continued on the pushrods today. Got the last one match drilled then prepped everything for priming. Per plans both the inside and outside of the tubes were primed as well as the end caps. I've been using SEM Self Etching Primer in rattle cans and have been pleased with the results. It goes on easy, dries quick with a heat gun and gives a nice finish. To prime the insides I just sprayed primer in either end and twirled the tube to spread it. I was slowed down for riveting due to the primer thickness on the parts preventing the end caps from sliding into position. Because of the close tolerances I had to sand most of the primer off the fay surfaces so the caps would slide in deep enough. It kinda defeats the purpose of priming. If there's gonna be any corrosion the fay surfaces are where it'll occur. Then it was on to riveting and that went pretty smooth. I've completed 3 of the 4 pushrods.
