Shop Update/Horizontal Stab Prep

Before I begin the process of attaching the horizontal stabilizer and elevators there were things to do. First was to rotate my fuselage 180 degrees to have more space to mount the 118" wide stabilizer/elevator combo. Mounting it with the fuselage as previously oriented would've made access into the house tougher and increased the chance for accidental damage. Fortunately my fuselage stand has wheels so rotating it single handed wasn't too tough. I also reconfigured my workbenches so I could lay the horz. stab on the them. That task completed along with a general cleanup it was time to pull the stab off the wall where its hung for last 15 months. I had some riveting on the center leading edge ribs that I'd put off last year. The 10 rivets in question needed an offset set to drive and I had 4 small gaps between flanges that I needed to figure out. I wasn't sure at the time on the best way to tackle it so I put it off for later. Later has now arrived but I'm 15 months smarter so riveting it wasn't so tough. I made four .020 shims to fill the flange gaps which worked nicely.
