Horz. Stab Fairing Mounted And Tweaked
I got both horizontal stab fairing clecoed in. Then spent hours on the laborious process of sanding the aft edges to match the contour of the elevator horn and fairing. There needs to be a minimum 1/8" gap between the two fairings. The slight angle makes it tougher to achieve a nice, even gap. I'm about 95% there. I then finished up by fabricating the two fiberglass patches that will close off the aft part of the stab fairings. I wanted to get them done tonight so they'll have all evening to cure and I can continue on in the morning.

Horizontal stab fairings clecoed in.

Sanding the rear edge to achieve a nice consistent gap of the required width.

Fabricated two 2-ply fiberglass patches. The underlying metal has a slight angle bent into it to match the angle of the fairing.

The patches will be trimmed and bonded to the rear of the fairings to close off the opening.
