More Cowling Progression
The cowling continues to suck up a lot of my time, but progress has increased of late. Today I got the top piano hinges and hinge pins fitted and drilled to the top cowling half. First, the hinge pins needed to be bent in a certain way so the exterior tab would lie flat against the cowling. Some trial and error involved there. The top cowling needed little divots ground into them to accept the piano wire tabs. Then the rivet holes positions from the lower cowling were transferred to the upper cowling and drilled. Lastly, the cowling was match drilled to the upper piano hinges and clecoed in position. The cowling is now secured with all its piano hinges. Riveting it all will start soon.
