Day 121

Controls

Worked today on getting the controls hooked up and aligned.

Got the Flap actuator mounted.

We learned there were three more eyebolt bearings that were meant to go on the control sticks. It would have been much easier to have put these on before mounting the sticks. (Lesson learned.) Two of these held the other side of the control stops, which were needed to properly align the cross linkage rod. After getting the eyebolt bearings and spacers installed and the bolts tightened, we were then able to align the cross linkage. This was done by rotating one control until it hit a stop. Then turning the rotating the rod until the other control just hits the stop. This insures both controls hit at the same time.

Today we also got the steering rods installed. These also required eyebolt bearings and spacers. Once those are bolted and torqued the rods can be inserted. You do this by having the nose gear in a neutral position. Then turning the rods you get the rudder pedals aligned. They are as close as we can estimate for now. Once the rudder is installed you can adjust for final alignment.
