Day 158

Wiring Harnesses

Made some tremendous progress on getting wires organized and held in place today.

Had to do quite a bit of laying on our backs as we worked underneath the avionics shelf. We were able to get almost everything routed, organized and cable tied. We wanted to keep everything as clean and close to the shelf as possible. There is not much room between the shelf and where your feet go. We want to make sure your feet won’t get caught on anything. This takes more work than you would think. Everything is looking really good though.

We also used some “p” clamps to stand off the wiring harness to the tail as it goes down the center of the fuselage. We drilled six holes and inserted rivet nuts to make it easier to bolt on the standoffs.

The coaxial cables we snipped off along the center tract as well. Or plan is to put connectors here. We’ll run cables down from their respective ports in the avionics and have them connect right there. That way we’re not having to fuss with the measurements for the cables when hooking everything up. We can just make the connection ends where they reach the center.
