Day 159
Fuel and Brake Lines
First thing this morning we measured out the length for the brake line from the reservoir to the hand brake solenoid. You are then supposed to slide the line into another protective hose sleeve. This proved to be a bit of a challenge at first, but after we applied a little bit of dish soap to the end of the hose it slid through fairly easily. We then routed it through the firewall.
Next we mounted the fuel boost pump by measuring out and drilling holes to insert a pair of M5 rivet nuts. Afterwards we bolted on the pump so we would have a reference as we set about figuring out how we were going to make the fuel line system work from the fuel selector through the firewall.
We mounted a few of the bulkhead fuel fittings on the Firewall and have started routing the fuel lines. Tomorrow we are going to try going to a hose store and seeing if we can get a custom made fuel hose and fittings for between the boost pump to the bulkhead fitting. This will give it the most streamlined and out of the way route if we can make it work.
We also ordered a pair of static ports today.
Once we have the static ports, fuel hose and brake line all situated, those are the last things to finish up before we start fitting the front top skin!
