Day 167
Intercooler
Today we worked on getting the Intercooler fitted. We won’t hard mount until the fuel system is completed, because the Intercooler sits directly in front of the fuel lines. But we needed to know where it sits so that we could route the fuel lines and not have them interfere with one another.
Doing the Intercooler system requires a lot of custom cutting and fitting of hoses to make it fit where it need to. After a lot of times setting things up and taking them back apart, we got it to sit where it needs to. The regulator also has to be modified to fit the cooler properly.
We also prepped and painted the composite shroud that will go on the Intercooler itself. There are four holes that had to be measured and drilled to accommodate the grommets. We also had to sand small amounts off the inside to get it to fit against the cooler.
Today we also routed the coolant overflow line. We were instructed that it was best to go up, over and around the motor as opposed to going underneath the throttle body and intake manifold as described in the directions. Once we have the fuel lines figured out and ran, we will finalize its placement.
We continued to do some more work on the fuel lines and have started routing the hoses to and from the fuel filter as that we can figure out where to route and mount the check valve for this portion of the system.
