Day 206
Gearing Up for Paint
We are continuing to gear up for painting. This morning we watered down our paint both to get the last bits of dust and dirt taken care of. The room will be aired out enough to start using tomorrow.
The rest of the day we have been working to finish preparing the wings for primer and paint. The landing light sections needed some work, as well as the backs of the wings where the flaps rest.
Being we opted for aftermarket landing lights we had to modify the cover plates slightly. We had to put a small notch in them to fit the back of the lights. We Cleco’ed the four together and with a file worked then until they fit. We then scuffed all 8, the perplex retaining strips, and light bezels.
We also started scuffing the channels where the flaps and ailerons rest. We thought we had finished this before, but that is why we are going around checking everything one last time. Being that we bounced around so much in between waiting on different parts, as well as quite a bit of time elapsing since we moved on, it is certainly best to go back over everything.
We have made a list of everything that needs gone over and once they are completed we will mark them off. This way helping us know what is ready for paint.
