Day 256

Vinyl Application

Today we had Minuteman Press come out and put some custom stripes down the side of our plane. It looks fantastic! We also had them instal our N numbers on the rear fuselage. Very pleased with how it all turned out.

Today we attempted to install the upholstery pieces for the rear seat. Of course it couldn’t go without trouble. Goodness. We measured and applied the Velcro backing and slid the first split backrest upholstery on and it went perfectly. The second one, not so much. We pulled it out of the bubble wrap and first noticed that the stitches were coming undone on the bottom. Figured we could sow it back well enough. But when we went to try and fit it on, it was far too tight. It would not fit at all. We have emailed the factory and will see where to go from there.

As well, when we placed the bottom cushion, the seatbelt holes hardly aligned. They will have the slightest slit to pass through. We decided to put edge protection around the holes on the metal just to make sure that the belt fabric won’t tear.

We have also continued to work on the luggage compartment. There’s three pieces on the top that we are completely custom making. The pieces we were sent did not fit well. So we took a few spare pieces that we have and will make all new ones. Tomorrow we should be able to finish setting everything in place.
