Day’s 261-265

Transportation

Exciting stuff! It has been an eventful week! We have been working to get our plane transported from our shop location in Spokane Valley up to our hanger at the Deer Park airport. Lots of preparation went into getting everything ready. We bolted the main spar spacers back in and used the handles on those to strap down the plane to the trailer. We then used straps on the front landing gear to hold the front. Then for good measure we put two straps from the rear tie down to the trailer to help keep the back from bouncing.

For the wings we made a 8 inch foam support to hold the end of the wings. We then used the jigs that were used to build the wings to hold the root of the wings. Then with several straps crossed all over we tied it down to the trailer to keep it from moving any which way.

It was a bit of a nerve wracking day, but everything went very well. We got everything up to the hanger without causing any damages.

We were even able to get the wings mounted at the end of the day! There were a number of people around the airport that showed up to help set the wings in and we threw a few bolts in really quickly to hold them in.

Today we returned to finish putting the rest of the bolts and nuts. We’re now working to get all of the final assemblies completed. We have a certified air mechanic coming within the next week that is going to help us go through the engine to get it ready to run.

So happy to see the wings on the plane. Such an accomplishment over the past year to see everything coming together.
