Continuing on the elevator

Misalignment holes control brackets

Assembly: elevator

Manual ref: E2

Today we continued with the elevator assembly, we contacted Sling about the trim tab and are waiting for their response. We clecoed the control horn brackets to the main spar and bolted them together using a torque wrench which we set to 3.5 Nm. All went fine so far but unfortunately we encountered some problems in the next steps. The first one being that the elevator bush was too long to fit between the control horn brackets. We machined about 1.6 mm off the bush in a laith to make it fit. Having handled that part, we stumbled across an even bigger problem which was that the holes for the bolt that goes through the elevator bush did not align at all. They were probably 1/2 hole size off. We suspect that the control horn mounting angles do not have the same bending radius which causes one of the holes to be too high or too low. We contacted Sling about it and we probably need to get a replacement part from the factory.
