Skylight, Cargo doors, Control cables

Cargo Doors

Today I mounted the latch in the forward cargo door, with a small aerodynamic shield in front of the latch. I made a small plate to reduce the size of the slot and riveted that in as well. It all seems to work quite well and the whole lot was primed.

Skylight

I finished painting the skylight stringers and riveted them in place using stainless rivets. Managed to break a drill bit while drill additional rivet holes which I’ve left in place as very difficult to remove.

The two longitudinal aluminium skylight supports have been modified by removing the top pieces designed to capture the left and right skylight panes. My plan is to install a one piece large skylight and bond it to the two longitudinal supports. It will be captured fore and aft by the standard kitset pieces, and bonded to the steel stringers at the wing root.

Control Cables

Dropped the control cables to Pat Scotter at Rangiora for testing.
