Cargo Door Skin, Front fuel lines, Gear leg brake lines, Flexible hoses
Forward Cargo Door
The Scotchweld DP190 adhesive arrived today, so I bonded the forward cargo door skin to the frame. To do this I first removed the paint where the adhesive went and thoroughly cleaned both surfaces. I then clamped and weighted the skin and moved the door out of my workshop into the house where it was warmer to help the adhesive set.
Fuel Lines
I finished making the forward left fuel line. It had been problematic, but finally got it to match up and clear the floor pan.
Gear Leg brake lines
I re-made one gear leg brake line, putting an S bend into the lower portion where it will attach to the brake caliper. These were originally made to fit a flexible line in between, but the flexible lines turned out to be too stiff and heavy. I’ll tackle the remaining one tomorrow.
Flexible Brake Lines
These arrived today, correctly made this time with aluminium AN fittings, rather than the stainless steel ones they made them with the first time. There was a significant weight difference. I need to remove the brake cylinders now and seal the AN elbows before attaching the hoses permanently.
Control Cables
Today I collected my control cables from Pat Scotter. Pat had tested them, and they all passed. Very happy with my first attempt at making cables. Pat was unable to test the 1/16 pitch trim cable where it joins the chain, however that cable is not under a lot of tension.
