More painting

I painted the horizontal stabilizer and elevators today. Immediately upon starting I ran into an issue with the spray gun and it leaked paint. I disassembled and cleaned it for the second time as the spray valve was jammed open. All things that I would know for next time. I also managed to get more overspray on part of the fuselage. Obviously I’m not being careful enough and underestimating how far the overspray travels.

This evening I thoroughly masked off the fuselage leaving just the top exposed, covered all my other painted parts, gave it a scuff with the scotchbrite, a tack coat, then a wet coat. I came out after dinner to discover several large runs, on both sides. Very demoralized now. I tried to do everything right, but I must have again added too much paint. So, tomorrow I’ll sand it back again. It’s turning into a joke really, I now won’t have enough paint to finish the wings either. The Stewart’s Systems claim that having no experience is an advantage is just so far from the truth, it’s simply a sale’s gimmick, and a very costly one when I have to ship the paint from the USA. Not happy.
