CHT/EGT wiring loom

I installed the CHT probe adaptors and the wiring loom, and secured it with some Adel clamps. I’ve also added some spiral high temperature plastic wrap.

I’ve also started organizing the other EMS wiring loom ready to install. This one has a bunch of wires that go through the firewall, and some that stay on the cabin side such as fuel pump and manifold pressure. The manifold pressure transducer appears to share two wires with the oil/fuel pressure transducers, so I may need to run another wire. But there may be another way to do this, I’ll check with AFS.

This evening I moved the Dynon ACM to the cabin side of the firewall. It had been on my mind for a while, and my friend mentioned today that it would be difficult to access when I needed to. Actually it didn’t take long to move and surprisingly all the cables fit, with some swapping around. It’s much easier access now from under the instrument panel, and sits high enough to be out of sight. There’s an air gap at the rear so it doesn’t sit hard against the firewall. It also gives a lot more room above for routing cables so they’ll be much neater when finished too. Tomorrow I’ll install the lower bracket that will bolt in place using Adel clamps.

On the left side of the avionics rack I can see that the ADSB will also be difficult to access, so I’m planning to swap it over with the current position of the remote VHF. The VHF sits in a tray, so it’s very easy to remove by undoing a retaining clip.

I’ll also move the ADHRS module over to one side of its mounting plate, and mount the backup battery on the same plate.
