Neville's Bearhawk

ELT, Flap cables, USB charger

I took the weekend off and went flying with Jon Battson for 3 days down to Haast and Fiordland. We covered 4 airstrips on the way down, 18 on the second day, and a few on the way home, including the alpine glaciers and ice fields. I was very impressed with the Bearhawk’s capabilities, and I learnt a lot more about operating and flying it.

Today I was back on task.

ELT

I added the aerial cable this afternoon. Apparently it shouldn’t be shortened as the internal GPS is tuned to work on a 6 ft cable, so I coiled it and cable tied it in place.

Flap Cables

I used the soldering iron to make a penetration through the fuselage fabric for the flap cables to the exterior wing root pulleys, and ran the cables through.

USB Charger

Finally after much deliberating and no luck obtaining the correct machine screw size, I drilled and tapped the USB to take a larger metric size screw. This took all of about 10 mins, and I was then able to permanently mount it in place. I’ve got it tucked away under the instrument panel.
