Neville's Bearhawk

Shock strut seals, brake spacers, Cowlings

I got a pretty big day working on the Bearhawk today. There were a lot of things to finish and some more parts arrived so I was able to finish a few jobs that had been waiting. I plan to store the fuselage at the rear of my workshop until the hangar is ready, and will bring the wings out from storage in the next day or two to begin assembling.

Shock strut seals

Finally I came up with an idea to seal the top of the gear shock struts that should provide a good seal, and allows me to easily remove the lower panels without first having to remove the shock struts.

Brake spacers

The correct bolts arrived today, so I used the hoist to lift each side of the aircraft and removed the wheels one at a time. The right wheel was easy because I already had the spacer in place and only had to swap the bolts over. The left side was a headache and took over an hour. Anyway I got it done with decent spacing between the brake callipers and the tire now, and the correct bolt length.

Cowlings

Finally tonight I assembled all the boot cowls and engine cowlings again, this time with screws. I need to replace two nut-plates that are not secure.

The fuselage is now sitting on wheel dollies that allow me to push it sideways, and tomorrow I plan to store it along the back wall of the workshop.
